FreeStyle Libre 2 Adhesion Tips

During the summertime, I tend to be more active with outdoor activities - swimming*, surfing, and sweating. With so much going on, it’s so nice to be able to not have to worry about my sensor falling off! One of my favorite things about my FreeStyle Libre 2 is how long the sensor stays on, even when it gets wet. Did you know that it’s the only iCGM with optional alarms^ that measures glucose accurately every minute for up to 14 days1?

Here are some adhesion tips and tricks for longer lasting wear:

  • Clean the area with an alcohol swab and let it dry completely before applying

  • Place on a part of your back of your upper arm that generally lays flat during activities and laying down (basically no creases or rounded areas, also try to avoid areas with moles, scars, stretch marks, etc.)

  • Pro Tip from me: I like to make sure to apply it away from my armpit area to avoid extra sweaty areas

  • After applying, use your finger to press firmly around the sensor to make sure it is fully secure

  • If you’re doing water* activities, don’t leave the sensor submerged in water for longer than 30 minutes

  • Make sure to rotate and use different sensor site areas on the back of your upper arm

I have truly put the FreeStyle Libre 2 sensor to test! Take a look at all the activities I can do with the sensor still intact and lasting the full 14 days!

Hope these tips help and make you feel more confident about doing those summer things! Focus more on your fun activities and less about your sensors!

* Sensor is water-resistant in up to 1 meter (3 feet) of water. Do not immerse longer than 30 minutes

^Notifications will only be received when alarms are turned on and the sensor is within 20 feet of the reading device.
